Psychological disorder is also referred as a mental disorder since it is a mental symptom or behavioral pattern that significantly impact numerous life areas, as well as creating distress for the individual showing these signs. A major psychological disorder is Anxiety disorders. They are mainly characterized by persistent and excessive fear, anxiety, and worry in addition to other related behavioral disturbances. Fear is involved with the emotional response to any threat, whether perceived or real. Therefore, the anxiety disorder makes an individual anticipate that there is a possibility of a future threat (Guglielmo, Janiri & Pozzi, 2014). For example, individuals with this psychological disorder are associated with a pronounced fear, particularly in public places. Individuals experiencing this disorder are always in fear that they may suffer a panic attack.

Researchers have not fully understood what causes anxiety disorders. However, various life experiences including traumatic events tend to trigger this type of complications, especially in individuals who are already prone to anxiety (Tompkins, 2013). Another significant contributing factor may also be the inherited traits during birth.

Also, anxiety disorder tends to have general symptoms including sleep problems, fear, panic, uneasiness; not being capable of staying still and calm; heart palpitations, breath shortness, dry mouth, dizziness, nausea, and tense muscles. Others may include sweaty, numb, tingling, or cold feet and hands (Guglielmo, Janiri & Pozzi, 2014). Besides, other individuals may have the challenge to think or concentrate on anything apart from his/her current worry.

If these symptoms occur, then a doctor is supposed to conduct a diagnosis by examining the patient as well as asking for his/her medical history. Besides, a doctor may run some tests for ruling out such illnesses that may be leading to these symptoms (Tompkins, 2013). Finally, psychotherapy such as cognitive behavioral therapy can be used as a counseling treatment strategy for addressing how an individual emotionally responds to mental illness.
