Several factors have contributed to the success of the insects as a class within the phylum the factors involved are the exoskeleton, small size, flight, reproductive potential, metamorphosis and finally adaptability. This factor is responsible for the success of the class. The exoskeleton which is an insect supporting skeleton found outside the body that is responsible for its shape, support of body tissues, protection and minimize the loss of body fluids. The small size which mostly ranges between 0.1 to 1.2 inches in length depending on the type of insect. ("Reasons for Success," 2017)

The flight which makes them the only invertebrates that can fly, gives them an escape route in case there arise a predator. Reproductive potentials since they have high fertility and provides a significant number of offspring in a lifetime where the female can lay between the ranges of 100 to 500 eggs in a lifetime. Why giant insects do not exist

There are several reasons why giant insects that lived before now they don’t exist, and there are several facts that will explain the reasons why they do not exist.Which are the oxygen levels whereby it means in the earlier times there was more oxygen in the atmosphere that used to range between 31% to 35% as compared to know which is 21% of the available gasses in the atmosphere hence this favored the growth of insects to survive in those oxygen levels?

Other reasons could be due to mass extinction hence the gigantic insects were wiped out, and animals that substituted the large insects managed to survive the catastrophe. The last reason might be due to climatic conditions, whereby long ago there were large swamps and warm temperature that favored the growth. Due to the hostile weather conditions, large insects cannot survive.
