How did Jennifer apply knowledge of human behavior and the social environment, person-in-environment, and other multidisciplinary theoretical frameworks in interventions with her clients?

Jennifer understood that people are more likely to have improved healthcare outcomes if they are placed in the right environment that promotes their values and beliefs. In this case, Jennifer chose nursing homes with Korean cultural influences to ensure that Eugene felt comfortable being there. The new environment at the nursing home would not be as different than the one Eugene is used to and it would help in managing his dementia.

How did Jennifer use inter-professional collaboration to achieve beneficial practice outcomes?

Jennifer is a social worker who is supposed to link clients with the requisite medical and social help. Jennifer collaborated with the physicians at the hospital where Eugene was admitted to understanding his medical needs. From here, Jenifer worked with nursing home administrators and nurses to ensure that Eugene will get the best of social, medical and mental healthcare services.

How did Jennifer negotiate, mediate, and advocate for her clients? Could she have done anything else?

Jennifer negotiated with nursing home administrators to consider taking in Eugene in spite of his financial condition. She acted as the mediator as she tried to convince Choo-hee to consider what is best for her father. In the advocate role, Jennifer presented Eugene’s condition to the nursing home administrators to ensure that Eugene would get Korean food and have staff who spoke Korean languages.

What steps could Jennifer take to better facilitate transitions and endings?

Jennifer could request the nursing administrator to allow Eugene family frequent visits to enhance Eugene’s recovery. More so, there would be a need to bring Eugene more of his favorite Korean foods considering the nursing home prepare it once a week. In this way, Eugene and his family will accept this new form of life.

In your field placement agency, what policies, procedures, and expectations do you feel reinforce and encourage or undermine inter-professional collaboration?

Inter-professional collaboration is encouraged by the desire for improved healthcare outcomes, as each player is concerned for the well-being of the patient as opposed to personal achievement. As a result, every member of the interprofessional collaboration does all he or she can to ease the patient’s suffering.

Which of the following roles assumed by social workers is the most consistent with your strengths? Explain.

The role of an advocate is the most consistent with my strengths since it helps connect people to the services they need to have better life outcomes. At times, individuals do not know what is good for them or how to get what they need. However, a social worker can connect these individuals to the services they need by speaking on their behalf. At the end of it, the social workers empower his or her clients to have the best social services that are available.

Compare the best practices presented in the multimedia scenario with your field experience

The best practice in the scenario that compares with my field experience is the need to find the best service for the clients. Additionally, from the scenario, it is clear that it is important to involve the client from the beginning of the process. Finally, the social worker should allow the client(s) or their representatives to have the final say. In this case, the social worker realizes that he or she can only offer suggestions without expecting the clients to accept them.
