Meridian Behavioral Healthcare is a mental health facility that operates under policies set by federal, state and local county authorities to provide services to individuals who have mental illness and illicit drug addicts. These policies formulated have enabled the facility to offer outstanding health services to everyone without the bias of gender, age or even race. Moreover, the facility has a well-written, up-to-date policies and procedures aimed at reducing practice variability that may result in substandard care and patient harm (Milstead, 2013). Among the important policies at the facility is adherence to recognized health professional practices, promoting compliance with industry regulations, statutes, and accreditation requirements, reducing practice variations on patients and standardized practices on various patients under a single health department (Milstead, 2013).
Through the adherence of the above policies and procedures, Meridian Behavioral Healthcare has so far avoided negative consequences such as patients harm and malpractice claim by either its clients or the federal/state/county authority. Further, strict policies formulated and followed at Meridian Behavioral Healthcare have helped to defend the facility against legal suits in cases where clients have tried to sue the organization on account of carrying out actions that are no longer consistent with industry-recognized practices (Cooper, Betts, Butler, & Gentry, 2010).
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
Therefore, as a social work intern at Meridian Behavioral Healthcare I would recommend the following policies to the agency to ensure social justice for the agency and its clients:
1. Advocating for medical research policy as this will form the basis for defining evidence-based healthcare practices (Cooper, Betts, Butler, & Gentry, 2010).
2. Advocating for health workforce policy which will ensure that there is adequate healthcare personnel’s at the facility with the required quality of expertise to meet the facility healthcare goals.
3. Periodic review of the already in place policies and procedures to ensure that they are up-to-date.
