Common Core Learning Standards 

Speaking and listening standards 

This will entail collaborative conversations with other class members and adults, such as teachers, during the session. 

The children will participate in conversations with their peers through exchanges. The instructor will supervise this. 

The students will follow group participation rules, such as listening to others and taking turns to speak. 

Writing standards 

Engaging students in individual and group writing activities to foster emergent writing skills. 

Helping students understand that writing through shapes and worlds and numbers are basic means of communication. 

Motivation 

Play will be the primary motivation as the students will learn social skills, counting skills, and writing skills through associating them with play. 

Procedures 

The topic will be introduced, and the students will listen to the instructions given by the instructor. They will then write down the alphabet writing on the whiteboard. The students will then form groups of 5 and discuss the letters while play with the plastic representation of these letters.

Floor puzzles with large pieces 

Balls of different shapes and sizes 

Teacher's coursebook 

Writing pads and pencils

Small-Group Instruction 

Small group discussions will be organized randomly by the teacher. The students will then be asked to discuss the alphabet and their arrangements from first to last. They will then play with pieces that represent these letters. 

Modification/Accommodation 

For students with physical disabilities, the working area will be increased to nuance their accessibilities to the learning material. Light equipment will be used. 

Follow up Activity 

The teacher will monitor the progress of the students and help those struggling with the lesson individually. 

Assessment 

Informal modes of assessment will be used. This will include observing the students in their groups and individually and standardized testing.
