“The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advance Health" provides a blue of the role of the nurse in this current and dynamic healthcare environment. The nurse in the hospital has for long subjected to subordinations to the doctors, and their role in the care institutions undermined. The report is much concern in improving this situation. The report has with it the recommendations for the nursing practice transformations and training as well as high-level nursing g professional educations. The aim is to have this situation improved the system of learning in this particular area. Further, the report makes a recommendation that a nurse should be included in the leadership positions in the hospitals. Therefore, the report makes recommendations on training of nurses and particular aiming at leadership mentorship and training. One of the glaring recommendations which are important in the report is the all-BSN workforce entry level. This is recommended to help more uniform foundation provision for new models of healthcare which are tuned to have health care reforms are achieved ( Garner, 2013) . The report sense cautious messages to nursing and other individuals who are concerned in this field, the message is that in case the nursing profession is entire area is inflexible to change, it may not be in the position to challenge or meet the growing demand which occurs on daily basics such as the changing technology, the aging populace and many others which emerge as the new healthcare reforms appears. With the Obamacare or the affordable care act in place, there are many changes anticipated in the field of care which needs flexibility and professionalism. It is anticipated that the care practice may shift to patient family centered model from the model which significantly look at care providers or the hospital provider’s centric model. This scenario brings about a situation where the hospitalization issues will be given minimal concentration as the complete care will be much focused on the preventive and chronic management. Moreover, there is currently a tendency where the professional is needed to move into the community and public health setting; this means that the professional is necessary to have different and advance medical knowledge to handle such situations. This also means that few nurses who have specialized in acute care will be in demand. It also means that these nurses need to provide quality care at the grassroots level, and therefore, their transformation professional needs a transformed educational system which will aim at quality care practice and leadership skills is a necessity (Holmes, 2011).

It is worth noting that the implementation of this recommendation will bring with them a major revolution in the field of nursing and hospital as a whole. It will empower nurses to meet the challenge of collaborative care practices. The well-trained health care nurse who happens to have undergone leadership training will be instrumental in developing healthcare reforms in the hospital and care sectors; this will be critical in bridging the gap in healthcare practice and delivery system to the community. Moreover, there will be freedom sense to the nurses for them to practice care delivery as asserted by Davis (2011).This will also provide an increase chance in the growth of other discipline in the hospitals which will help them with the task of fulfilling the goals of the IOM.

The committee also considered some factors which act as hindrances in nursing practices and some of the examples cited are issues such legal barriers which have been cited to interfere with registered nurses from practicing their full education and training. The recommendation is that these barriers need to be done away you with since the nurses are in huge demand. The recommendation is that they should be granted a chance to practice throughout from the issues dealing with healthcare promotion to the early diagnosis. The registered nurse should also help physicians on other issues such as assessing patient conditions or test evolutions and others ( Institute of Medicine, 2011)

The IOM also support the nurse to be given an opportunity to have leadership positions. There are many positions which nurses can work as leaders according to this reports, for instance, their nurses can work as health records officers, administrations and others. Through this, they can come up with many innovations which can have an impact in the world (Trossman, 2010). From the time the report was delivered, there have been some changes in healthcare filed particularly on the nursing sectors.

The study which was tuned to monitor how far the hospital has taken or implemented the IOM recommendation reported that many hospitals nearly eighty percent prefers the nurses who have bachelor degrees. Moreover, some institutions need the nurse to complete BSN and therefore offer reimbursements. The report also has it that about twenty-five percent of the organization needs their nurse to have BSN within some time. The report also suggests that only 8 per cent of the organizations need their nurses paid differently to those holding BSN ( GW Public Health, 2013) . The story ends by making a particular recommendation to the nursing community in the world that unity is the basis of success in their field. Therefore, they should work hard and stick together of their voices to louder.
