Early childhood learning course is preparing me to work in the field of teaching. There are special qualities that a teacher has to possess to excel in their career. I conducted a self-assessment that helped me understand how much I have grown along my professional career through early childhood program of study. The course has helped me improve my skills in teamwork. Collaboration is an essential component of educators. I have strengthened my ability to listen, communicate, and work effectively with my colleagues and learners. I am also able to work with people from diverse backgrounds to assist in provision of inclusive, safe, shared, and an equitable learning environment.
The program of study has also improved my integrity. As an educator, I have the responsibility of maintaining trustworthiness, honesty, and fairness. I have learnt the importance of professional ethics. In my professional career, I will ensure that I observe the recommended standards of behavior. I have also learnt to recognize and challenge injustices in more effective ways. For example, I will train my learners to respect everyone. No child should be discriminated due to their race, ethnic background or disability. I will always act in the best interest of all the learners as well as all the other members in my community.

I have a weakness in advocacy. I will therefore build my advocacy skills by enrolling in leadership courses.
