Programming of an event is the designing of activity expected to happen, whereas booking is the preservation of space for future use, and scheduling is the time planning for an event. These three aspects form the most vital areas in a recreation sports facility (Fried, 2015). Although membership, events, and sponsorship are the primary pillars of revenue in this sector, they are not enough for the effective and efficient operation of a recreational sports facility. Additionally, this type of facility faces a couple of challenges that come with their advantages and disadvantages, which depends on whether the recreational sports facility is a private or a public facility. Revenue in this sector of business can be generated in many ways such as an advertisement, raising and lowering of prices, and provision of bundle products and services (Lewis, 2017). Advertisements bridge the market gap, and it can be done through social media platforms, radio, and television. Raising and lowering of prices of the services and products offered in the recreational sports facility to meet the economic situation of the market season, will increase revenue (Roth et al., 2016). Finally, giving customers other products or services, for instance, massage services, depending on the type of service subscribed to increases revenue because they will keep coming for more. In conclusion, the primary challenge in this kind of facility is the sporting commission, which affects bidding, payoffs, sponsors, and volunteers (Shank & Lyberger, 2014). It takes a long process, and a lot of inspection for a recreational facility to be legalized and this legalization is done by the sporting commission. If it is a public facility, the process will be faster compared to when it is a private facility.
