The situation shows the prevalence in the usage of alternative medicine since its benefits outweigh the costs (Frass et al. 2012). The availability of alternative medicine locally is a factor of convenience to the users (Corp et al., 2018). It does not require high traveling costs to the users in case they intend to visit the physicians as opposed to unorthodox medicine that requires the scientific application and testing of the ailments in the laboratories. Many countries prefer the provision of alternative medicine practices outside their health care systems. Non-regulatory personnel who practices alternative medicine might have less expertise in the medical field due to low-level training ( White et al. 2014) . Its usage, therefore, fails to undergo safety measures and regulatory processes. Lack of perfect regulation leads to increased cases of the illegal practice of alternative medicine among local physicians. Patients are, therefore, at risk of other ailments due to the lack of proper safety measures applied in the process of treatment. Also, the lack of adequate expertise by the physicians using the alternative medicine approach contributes to a lack of appropriate assessment, reporting, and acting on the harmful effects of alternative medicine ( White et al. 2014) . It requires the use of trees and other plants as concoctions of healing ailments. The process of extracting such tress contribute to deforestation and endangering of the human and animal habitat. The continued use of this method of treatment will contribute to future unsustainability such since natural resources such as forests are vital human and animal survival. Also, the lack of compensation of the local communities that harbors biological and genetic materials applied as alternative medicine components is a threat to a healthy nation (Mpinga et al. 2013). Since physicians use the materials for commercial and treatment purposes, lack of compensation reduces the credibility of the alternative medicine process in society. If society fails to control alternative medicine, it might lead to the extinction of some natural species.
An additional con of alternative medicine is the lack of privacy and ethical consideration. It entails the physician-patient close interaction in the therapy sessions, massage, and yoga. A physician might expose the details of the ailment to the family members and other physicians. The situation is against medical ethics, where a patient’s privacy is the central aspect of concerns. Due to the limited training the physicians engaging in alternative medicine, they might lack sensitivity regarding the questions they ask during the therapeutic process. The practitioners might apply stigmatization, racism, and religious discrimination in the process of administering treatment to the patients. Such a situation discredits the alternative medicine approach and disregards its importance in the healing process. Lack of privacy and ethical consideration is a prerequisite of the failure of the use of alternative medicine.

Also, its cons, such as a threat to biodiversity, lack of privacy and ethical consideration, and lack of proper regulation on its usage, are evident. Although there are cons of alternative medicine, its continued use describes its appreciation and the need for its emphasis on healthcare centers and sector.
