One significant enduring question is: Do people behave, act or interact in the manner they do due to nature, like their parents-inherited genes, or nurture, like the culture, environment, childhood interactions or religion? Personality is a significant part of every person, it determines an individual’s behaviors, moods, how they relate with one another and the decisions they make. Personality is influenced by both the environment an individual grows in, and their ancestors. If nature along influenced a person’s personality, they could have inherited genes from their lineages which effect how their personality is formed.
The environment is crucial in people’s life: some are poor, others wealthy. The environment one grows in influences who they are and their personality traits. Indeed, a person’s personality is influenced more so by their environment than their genetics. Much of an individual’s personality is founded on the adaptation of their abilities, social interests, and cognitive abilities. This adaptability which forms and shapes a person may only be learned from interacting with the environment.

It is true that personality and biology and intertwined. The biological theories of personality are based on the assumption that personality differences are partially due to differences in systems and structures in the central nervous system like neurotransmitters, hormones, and genetics. This suggests that peoples’ personality varies because of the genes they develop and how their body regulates these. A person’s genetic composition has a stronger influence in their personality. Besides, all traits people inherit, even the personality traits are hugely influenced by one’s biology and genetics.
On the other hand, research has proven that personality is a product of cultural development, and the contacts people have with each other and their environment at childhood. Likewise, evidence from research has established that children who grow in foster homes were influenced more by their foster parent’s child raising, than by their genetics. Generally, most psychologists are beginning to adopt the notion that every element of a human being is influenced by nurture and nature.
