How the race is interesting to deal with

The race is exciting to deal with because it has shifted focus from policy and political differences and has concentrated on personal attacks. It makes it difficult for voters to focus on what the candidate has planned to do when they are elected to Congress (Bunao, 2018). The race also has presented arguments and counterarguments that point at each other lies not only in advertisements that run in different media platform but also on the televised debate of the two candidates. The race also attracted other candidates from Libertarian party and Green Party Tom Bailey and Robert Corriher respectively, who did not produce any serious, challenge including the election final results (Wireback, 2018). Each side has countered the campaign adverts presented by the different teams that showed and dismissed the messages given in the campaign team that focused on attacking each other that has made the race interesting to deal with making it a very close and tight race.

The issues

The issues that the two candidates presented specifically that touched on their personal lives and families ranged from the source of income and investments they made as well as the jobs they do and the relationship and interests that they have with corporate bodies among others. Budd claimed that Manning and her family are personally profiting from a to-be Greensboro parking deck and, on the other hand, Manning insisted that Budd’s voting record had been dominated by corporate interests (Murphy, 2018). Manning also asserted that Budd is ready to do anything to try to keep his job that includes attacking and lying about her and her family. The personal and family attacks about the race outweighed the real issues that were discussed in the debate that the two candidates had that included health care, immigration, climate change, tax cuts, and even Trump’s policies and styles among others.

How the race was conducted

Each party was given enough time and opportunity to convince the voters about their potential and plans that they have for the people in the District and the whole country as well as their political parties. It included an opportunity for the candidates to debate on different issues and concerns that the voters have that include present affairs as well as plans. The race allowed advertisements (political) in the media that allowed the candidates to enhance their messages further and counter their opponents about the different concerns and issues that affected them and how they planned to address them when elected into congress (Murphy & Bunao, 2018). The candidates in the race organized for different campaign strategies including door-to-door campaigns in the final stages of the race where they traversed the entire District is soliciting for votes, and such campaigns also incorporated essential figures from their respective political parties (Democrats and Republicans).

Explanation and comment on the election results

The election result was worn by the Republican candidate Ted Budd that won with 51.6 percent from the total 220 of the district's precincts. The lead started early in the evening and kept growing through the night when results continued to trickle in. Manning conceded the race in at 11: 30 PM news release. Manning won her home county Guilford with a wide margin by 61.5 percent of the vote to Budd's 35.6 percent. However, Budd won four counties with more full margins as well, except Rowan County, where the difference between the two was 1.7 percent in favor of Budd’s (Specht, 2018). The surprises in the race included results of Rowan County that were so close and the difference between the two when compared to past election was very minimal. The race was too tight that it was difficult to concede defeat and predict an exact winner. It is because of the current political developments that continue to rock the US and the current administration and political parties. Victory for Budd meant they worked and planed strategically through the campaigns. However, Manning close contention and hard fight indicated hope and prospects for future about possible changes in the leadership of the district.
