The report outlines that Britain is composed of a multicultural and multilingual society making English, not the only language used by children. For children suspected of having speech disorders, language and speech therapists need to accurately assess bilingual children's language and skills ( De Lamo White & Jin, 2011) . Countries with diverse cultural backgrounds and languages experience complex assessment procedures. Most of the children in Britain settings are at risk of misdiagnosis, and therefore, the speech-language pathologists (SLP) should consider utilizing effective measures such as review, interview, observe and test methods. Despite that, the challenges associated with the diagnosis of speech problems for bilingual learners are numerous, thus presenting the need for further research in speech-language pathology. The research will allow for the development of accurate assessment of a child's communication ability and effective therapy implementation. The paper provides an analysis of issues surrounding bilingualism and its diagnosis. 

I view the assessment of bilingual children's setbacks such as language use and family culture as a major problem in speech-language pathology. Bilingualism is associated with the speaker's socio-cultural factors such as race, ethnicity, nationality, and culture. Effective evaluation of bilingual clients requires language and speech therapists to develop socio-cultural approaches in the assessment process. The method is viewed as an alternative approach in enhancing bilingual education. However, the approach might not solve the language issues in totality. The speech-language pathologists have their cultures which may lead to biasness during the assessment and diagnosis process. According to De Lamo White & Jin (2011) , bilingual clients' standard assessment is affected by linguistic biases. Linguistic variation has negative impacts on parameters of linguistics such as syntax, pragmatics, and phonology. The variation in language parameters makes it worse for the clinicians to develop standardized assessment criteria for the child.

I find that language proficiency variability contributes to challenges affecting clinicians dealing with bilingual children to be factual. The use of language and what motivates a child to communicate in a specific linguistic setting is based on the need for the language. For example, a student is motivated to communicate in English because it is the medium of instruction, whereas, for someone else, it can be for trading purposes. In speech-language pathology, the specialists are expected to consider their client's language's historical and cultural background to make an informed diagnosis De Lamo White & Jin (2011) . However, I find the idea ambiguous considering the ethnic diversity of Britain. Development of norm-referenced standardized assessment will not be possible. In United Kingdom cities, we have approximately 60 languages spoken. The UK is also undergoing massive social diversity shifts because of immigration. The immigrants' language proficiency and even those who have settled in the United Kingdom for long is a challenge to SLP. The non-referenced standard method of evaluating the clients' bilingual needs is only suitable for a relatively homogenous group of speakers ( De Lamo White & Jin, 2011) . The issue of immigrants has resulted in dynamic nature whereby the children learn at different rates and times. I view that the SLP should consider utilizing technological methods in bilingual teaching. Remote delivery applications, computer-managed instructions, and video-tape instructional models are efficient in bilingual language teaching, especially in an ethnically diverse country like the United Kingdom. 

I find utilizing the review, interview, observe, and test (RIOT) procedure to be effective in the sociocultural approach to bilingual teaching. The technique is based on methods such as critical-evaluation dynamic assessment and language assessment measures. The mechanism modifies different techniques within the child's socio-cultural environment and context to that of the SLP specialist. As outlined by De Lamo White & Jin (2011) , the RIOT procedures in the ethnographic community contribute to an effective decision-making process concerning the child's problem. The process is characterized by reduced misdiagnosis, and thus, speech learning specialists should utilize it. The method allows the clinician to review the client's educational and clinical records, interview them, observe their multiple setting, and test their language. This is crucial in achieving the correct diagnosis of language impairment in children from a diverse ethnic background. De Lamo White & Jin (2011) view that, in conducting oral proficiency of a bilingual child, one should develop a questionnaire encompassing the RIOT process. I concur with the author since the technique allows for identifying shifting patterns of language use within the ethnographic community. The knowledge is profound in developing an effective diagnosis and implementing a plan to address language impairment in minority groups. 

Bilingual children are facing language impairment that might not be effectively diagnosed due to the linguistic and cultural diversity of the United Kingdom. The problem has led to complex assessment procedures among the children suspected of having language impairment, and in the long run, it has resulted in misdiagnosis. Language pathologists play an integral role in the diagnosis of speech impairment and the development of intervention measures. They need to come up with the most effective procedure that can suit the diverse ethnic nature of the United Kingdom and other multilingual countries globally. The clinicians should consider the need to understand the cultural and historical background of the client first. As outlined earlier, the major challenges that language pathologists face are associated with the child's family culture and language use. Understanding the issues is key in the development of the diagnosis procedure. The language pathologist should not rely on language proficiency among their clients due to its constant shifts due to immigrants in countries like the United Kingdom. They should utilize other methods such as RIOT procedures since they provide comprehensive analysis, resulting in an effective diagnosis of language impairment.
