The thought theory describes how the human mind functions. Popularly known as the unconscious thought theory, the theory states that the human mind can execute tasks outside an individual’s awareness. Sometimes, a person could be assigned a seemingly complex task and agonize over how he or she will accomplish it. Surprisingly, an idea would emerge to the individual without him or her knowing.
Sometimes, the human mind comes up with ideas for solving some tasks when an individual is relaxed or is doing other unrelated activities. The theory also functions best when an individual is given very little time to respond to some situations. In daily life, I tend to think that individuals give honest answers when they are ambushed to respond than when they are given time to respond. I think the theory would be applied best in police interrogations. Suspects would answer questions better when they are asked immediately and not after they are given time to interact with people such as lawyers. When people are given time, they tend to think over the questions and come up with ways of giving answers that give a better image of themselves.

Nevertheless, I would like to register some concerns. Is it accurate to point out the theory might be susceptible to misinterpretation? And are there exceptions? For instance, managers in organizations that rely on creativity might ambush their employees to come up with rash decisions. Some of the decisions might jeopardize the operations of firms, especially when they are sought in a hurry. Firms that deal with scientific research, for instance, would require ample time to come up with conclusive findings.
In conclusion, as much as the thought theory might apply in some scenarios, it may not be effective in others. How the theory is applied depends on rationality especially on the part of managers in organizations. I think that if mistakes are committed in a firm, the theory might apply but when decisions concerning coming up with ideas to perform certain tasks need to be made, the theory may not hold.
