Reginald Marsh was a painter from America who was born in Paris, France. His paints focused on life interpretations in New York City between the 1920s and 1930s. His paintings reflected the Crowded Coney Island beach scenes, famous entertainments like vaudeville and burlesque, men, and jobless women on the Bowery. His work attracted many people as they were an accurate depiction of New York City's happenings. Despite being interesting, his paintings were a source of learning materials on life matters; people could learn from the images to reform and improve their lives. The above picture was created in 1931. It shows a woman having a woman surrounded by other women and men. What comes to my mind in this picture is obvious for anyone else, partying. Marsh did this painting that depicted a movie star (shown in a blue top and black short) and a live performer in New York surrounded by other individuals (The Art Story, n.d). The picture captured the individuals having a party in a burlesque show. When I came across the image, I started thinking about how prudent Marsh was to create it as it reflected two important life aspects in women. The first aspect depicted in the picture was to awaken talented women to utilize their talents and grow. In my opinion, Marsh inspired young women to recognize their abilities and use them by creating a painting of a movie star by the name Texas Guinan and her crew. The second aspect that makes this image interesting to me is women's portrayal as strong and purposeful. Guinan is seen leading a band comprised of men and women, a depiction that shows women can also be leaders in any field such as politics and business.
The above image is another painting by Reginald Marsh created in 1932. The artwork began to sorrow my heart immediately after I studied it. It shows men making a line to receive food hand-outs from the government. Everyone would guess what the picture depicted. When the image was made, the then president of the United States of America, Hoover, had told his citizens that their country's economy was doing well (The Art Story, n.d). Therefore, this picture was intentioned to show how a depressed population was taken for granted by the government. The picture showed an endless line, which, in my view, is a depiction of the social and economic immobility status of the population. To make his depiction clearer, Marsh used created the painting with men in similar clothing. Similar clothing used in the image was intended to show that the entire population was going through depression and hunger. In his explanation, Marsh's primary goal with this painting was to portray depression under President Hoover's regime.

The artwork reflected how individuals from New York City made voyages to Coney Island during hot days. At the Island, people made fun, danced, and watched performances from artists. It is a good painting by Marsh to show the lifestyle of the people of New York. After reading what Marsh wrote to his wife describing the goodies of Coney Island, I got convinced that the Island was attractive and he admired spending some moments there with his wife (The Art Story, n.d). To me, this image could help people create business ideas on the Island. The painting shows artists and a large crew having a party; hence, artists could find an opportunity to entertain people and tap some payment during these days. Other business ideas could be generated by studying what the people at the Island preferred. I love the painting as it enlightened people in New York.
Marsh had different meanings when we compare the first and second paintings, as discussed in this paper. The first painting focused on enlightening women on their potential in society, whereas the second one focused on the United States of America's economic status. However, I can say that there is one similarity between the two paintings. Their similarity entails bringing light to individuals. I would explain the similarity by arguing that the first image was to get light to women to realize their potential. The second image was to bring light to America's citizens to see their country's economic status.
The first and the third paintings appear to be similar in a way; they all display people having parties, and people can have similar assertions about them. The principal opinion would be making people aware of what they do not know; for instance, the paintings subjected people to understand specific opportunities and take advantage of them. Nevertheless, the difference between the two images is evident as the places they are taken from can create a different perception. For example, the first painting is for a lady, a superstar, while the third painting is a general lifestyle at Coney Island. The second and third images have one similarity in making people aware of what they do not know. Their difference is evident as the second image is politically skewed, while the third one is lifestyle centered.
I conclude by saying that artistry work was a fundamental idea generated by early artists. The current artists need to emulate the previous artists' spirits as they provided a learning platform for people through artistry work. The paintings helped the people of that era and still helping people in the current century. During Reginald Marsh's time, people could learn various opportunities and problems facing them by studying Marsh's paintings. Marsh did not make paintings for fun but for people to learn from them. People could interpret his work differently, allowing the generation of a wide range of ideas. For instance, I have created an image of how New York used to be, the lifestyle of the people of New York, and the status of the economy of The United States of America at that time from Marsh's paintings. It is such a helpful idea to paint the status of the people or a region.
