It is important to note that in the U.S, a lot of child welfare systems are not in a good operational condition. Children have become victims of this vice as a result. Most children suffer for reasons such as separation from their siblings and being moved to several foster families in a rather short period before they get a chance to get settled (Tofaris S., 2016). Many of these children are bound to suffer from being abused by their foster families whose primary responsibility was to protect them. For this reason, it is vital to instituting specific laws which clearly define the circumstances under which children should get removed from foster care systems which subject them to abuse. We will be able to assess this issue basing our discussion on several one case study.
Having worked as an intern in a foster care Agency, I have been able to witness firsthand how abusive and inhuman some foster parents could get. I had gotten assigned the duty of taking reports from an adoptive family who had agreed to take care of two middle-aged teenage girls in Colorado. The first day I could sense some tension going on around the house. The girls blankly admitted to being okay when I asked them about their welfare. After a month, I went back to inquire more about what was going on as I had heard that the parents had divorced two weeks before my second visit. The eldest of the girls handed me a letter before I walked out. In it were the horrible experiences they had been facing all along. The father had been continuously taking advantage of them while threatening to kill them if they reported the matter to the police.

I took this grave matter to the authorities who first slackened to take action before I brought in the director of my agency. The girls were then removed from that family and moved to a more secure institution. The accused was after that imprisoned for what he had done. This experience was emotional for me. Just imagining how many children out there are going through such awful incidences is unbearable, and is something that requires immediate action (Lee K., 2013). I learned that the abuse of children in foster care systems had been a disease that requires serious intervention by the government to curb it.
The developing program of financing foster placement of abused children in foster care systems with their relatives is bound to provide a viable opportunity with which their kinship can get strengthened.
