Part III: Reflection 

A satisfying career is not necessarily one that matches an individual’s skills values and interests with the job. Though these three factors are essential when it comes to being in a rewarding career, they are however not the most important factors ( Sajjad Hussain, 2012) . Making a good career decision saves people from staying in unfulfilling jobs, which in most cases results to miserable lives. A phenomenon known as personality type is important when it comes to career choices and decisions. Unlike the three factors that were mentioned earlier, personality type never changes. When an individual is conversant about his/her personality type, understanding the personal requirements of a career for it to be satisfying becomes easy. In addition to this, it helps one in determining how work-related strengths can be capitalized to compensate for the weaknesses (Sharif, 2017). In my case, being conversant with personality psychology was a starting point that drove me towards seeking a job as an advertising agent. The art of persuasion is a skill that is required for any advertisement to have an effect on the intended group of people. 

When I applied for the position of an advertising agent five years ago in New Orleans, I instantly knew that that was the career path that was going to satisfy me. Personally, I have always loved dealing with people, counselling them, analyzing why they do what they do and guiding them through the various steps in life. Through this job, I came to understand that I have a very impressive persuasion skill. My work in this organization has resulted to millions of profits, as I have been able to bring new face of how advertising is done. My everyday job involves locating and contacting various potential clients and inviting them to use our services, meeting with clients and explaining to them to services that we offer, guiding my juniors on what to do and explaining to our clients the most suitable advertising options with regards to their products or service. My everyday activities include; drafting contracts, responding to and addressing any given issues that ac client raises, development of sales tools, development of promotion plans and media kits, monitoring our competitors’ products, process and sales, as well as maintaining and analyzing the client’s accounts. 

This job involves constantly dealing with people, analyzing them, counselling and guiding them, suggesting the most suitable options for them and therefore through it, I have been able to develop several important life skills such as leadership skills, management skills, decision making skills and communication skills. I have been the leader for my team for the last two years and I can proudly say that I have done a great job. Moreover, in the last five years I have been able to acquire a Master’s Degree in Psychology and also A Bachelor of Arts in Advertising. For the last six months I have been planning on how I can develop a practical business plan, where in the near future I look towards opening an advertising agent, where I look forward to absorbing any graduate with a psychology degree and who are interested in advertising to allow them acquire skills for their future endeavors. The fact that this career has been so fulfilling has made my personal life easier, since I feel satisfied and rewarded. Despite the fact that I had to switch cities, nothing has been difficult for me. Through this job and the experiences that I have gained in it, I have been able to learn that being in a satisfying career path requires a lot of knowledge about one’s personality and oneself (Cleare, 2013). More specifically, work personality is a greater determinant of job satisfaction than home or global personality.
