Psychology is outstandingly broader with a range of areas of specialty. Psychology chooses to narrow on a specific matter. This paper focuses on five different specific areas of study in different places.

In Swarthmore College located in Pennsylvania, the objective of the study was to assess an individual's likelihood to conform to a standard when there is a given pressure to adapt (Goodman, 2006). In this study, there was no monetary compensation for participation rather participants were instructed to provide wrong answers while only one true participant gave accurate answers. One true participant conformed to the majority who gave wrong answers. In Stanford University situated in California, they intended to discover how social learning, environmental factors, and genetics shaped the development of a child (Davies, 2010). In this study, there was no monetary compensation, but children were separated into three groups. One group exposed to the film of an adult being aggressive to Bobo doll, while a second group the adult played with Bobo doll, and a third was a control group. In The University of California in Irvine, the study focused on proving how memories can be deceptive (Goodman-Delahunty, Granhag, Hartwig, & Loftus, 2010). There was no monetary compensation in this study but the use of different verbs to influence memory of the eyewitness. In the University of Illinois located in Urbana–Champaign, the study's objective was to establish what is going on the mind of an infant ( Siemieniecka & Siemieniecki, 2016 ). There was no monetary compensation for the study as well. Lastly, at Hawthorne Works in Chicago, Illinois the objective of the study was to identify the Hawthorne effect on human subjects under investigation. This study did not involve any monetary compensation (Muldoon, 2017). However, subjects under the study showed more productivity since they were singled out for experiment and thus felt more critical leading to biases.

The study that is more interesting is the Hawthorne effect on humans under experiment. The study is interesting because the subjects under study improved their performance knowing that they are being observed. I would not want to participate in both the studies of conformity to standards and the Hawthorne effect. In conformity study, I am likely to be pressured or swayed to the wrong majority while in the Hawthorne effect study; I am likely to act in the best way to give good results which may be unreliable.
