Dialectical Behavior Therapy entails a combination of different aspects such as individual psychotherapy, group skills training, and phone coaching, among others. Patients exhibiting DBT symptoms are advised to monitor their condition and apply their learned skills on a daily basis even as their progress is being monitored in the course of their therapy. The DBT skills training encompasses four major types of skills which include skills for mindfulness meditation, tolerating distress, interpersonal effectiveness and regulation of skills. The skills of mindfulness meditation focus on the ability to learn how to observe, and to take part in experiences that are happening in the immediate environment that includes sensations, thoughts, and emotions without making judgments whether they are good or bad.
