Discussion: 1-Revision of Paragraph One
Thesis : To love a person involves developing compassion feelings towards them. Thus, love is seen as the most dominant theme in the Story of the “Gift of the Magi” by O. Henry. The writer makes use of two characters in the story: Jim and Della to depict that love is an essential thing than all the materials possessions any individual can own in this universe. Nonetheless, the most selfless method of loving someone is through sacrifice.
O. Henry presents the story of love and sacrifices through his narration in “Gift of the Magi.” Through his story, he tries to point out that real love entails the willingness to give in a self-denying manner which cannot be measured with any wealthy possessions. Both Della and Jim sold their most valuable properties so that they can purchase expensive gifts just to show one another how much they love each other. Subsequently, they are able to understand that it is not the gift that is most important but the sacrifice they offered just to prove their love for one another. To sum up, O.Henry portrays the moral perception that individuals driven by nothing but love for their partners, can give anything in a self-denying way which implies that true love is more worth than any worldly possessions.

Revision Notes
I revised the paragraph by identifying the main idea of the story which also helps to provide the outline of the first paragraph. Consequently, I developed the ideas depicted from the thesis through explanations and examples. I also revised the quotation by identifying the keywords and paraphrasing them to portray an in-depth meaning, for instance, the use of “most valuable possessions.” At the end of my revised paragraph, I restated the basic thesis of the essay accompanied by a conclusion.
Discussion: 2 -Revision Strategies and Writing Process
The course on revision techniques has without a doubt enhanced my revision strategies and writing process. I have learned to organize my work strategically through the aspects of making notes since this helps me to relate to other materials especially when writing answers. Thus, I have discovered on the methods that I will apply to analyze my work throughout the course. In that, the process of analyzing or revising entails breaking down an argument or an idea and examining these parts on their merits. This also helps to develop paragraphs based on the contents, thesis statement, conclusions and use of keywords.
This course has indeed changed my writing techniques. Initially, I never had a plan of how to start editing my work. However, after going through the handout I have learned to differentiate the necessities to work first on revisions guided by the ideas, and structures of the work through the improvement of paragraphs. Once the problem of paragraphs and ideas is solved, then I can work on editing which is characterized by spelling errors, grammar, and proofreading which improves writing and coherence.
Since I have grasped the insights on how to develop paragraphs, I will consider applying the strategy of looking between the sections so that I can ensure there are transitions in my future projects. This entails the act of moving from point to another without leaving any concepts left out. Therefore, this process will involve adding transitional phrases or statements in the existing information so that the reader can learn about the shift of information and sentence clarity. Nonetheless, I will also go through my future projects so that I can get myself on the right frame of perceptions by reviewing the feedback given by the instructor both positive and negative points that need to be modified.
