Discrimination is when one is treated differently based on race, skin color, or ethnicity. Regardless, human rights exist to bring equality among people despite their differences. They ensure all human beings free and live with peace and harmony wherever they are.

There are four main types of discrimination. One of them is direct discrimination, whereby one person is treated worse than another in a given situation due to racial differences (Lee et al., 2019). Another type is indirect discrimination, where an institution, organization, or group of people has a policy that undermines or disadvantages a particular racial group. Victimization is another factor that occurs when an individual complains about racism. The other is harassment, where one dignity is degraded and embarrassed or even humiliated because of having less power to defend him/herself.

Many international laws and rights have been implemented to end or reduce racial discrimination in workplaces and learning institutions. In the mid seventeen century, in some parts of Europe, racial discrimination was rampant.

Slavery was one form of discrimination where human rights were not observed. Individuals were allowed by the constitution to own humans as properties in some states (Mafu, 2019). Some clauses prevented congress from abolishing the slave trade. For an extended time, white saw themselves as superior to black people.

The right to freedom of discrimination significantly matters. It should be emphasized because it creates room for development, creativity, and the exchange of ideas. This is where there is transparency and upholding of dignity among different races. No man is limited, and every human being can bring positive change when given a chance. Laws can bring confidence and encouragement, knowing psychologically that there is protection against any form of discrimination.

To eradicate issues related to racism, public awareness is crucial. Many are encouraging it without knowing its effect, and others do because they have been witnessing it since childhood, and it becomes a tradition to them. Regardless, law enforcers to be keener, and amendment of some laws should be done according to lifestyle changes and interaction among people in modern life.
