Teachers help in shaping the society with regards to formal education and morality. Amid their service, the teachers have their rights and responsibilities. They are protected by the law as they discharge their mandate to their societies. Markedly, these regulations determine their operations in the learning environment.

The teachers have the right to privacy. However, this right is limited to the extent of effectiveness in their service. In cases where the teachers’ actions result in harm to the students and the parties in the learning environment, there is a need for the school to intervene and align the learning environment with the prevailing circumstances. Besides, teachers have academic freedom. However, this comes with the responsibility of catering to the needs of the learners. In this case, teachers are not allowed to voice their personal and political views during the learning process. Also, the teachers are protected from any form of discrimination. In this case, the teachers should not be judged or treated based on their nationality, gender, or even race (Osler & Starkey, 2017). They are to be treated equally in all situations.

Teachers have different responsibilities. For instance, they are tasked with the responsibility of offering quality education, as per the set curriculum. Equally, they are required to respect, protect, and supervise the students to ensure that they uphold the highest standards of discipline (Osler & Starkey, 2017). Besides, they should keep the personal information of their learners confidential.

Markedly, the roles of the teachers cannot be underestimated. Among the rights and responsibilities of the teachers, privacy stands out. I had not anticipated the limitation of the privacy of the teachers. Thus, I will embark on further studies to gain the required knowledge about it.
