The Parker episode conceptualizes how patients, physically or mentally ill undergo enormous breakdowns. The sickness aspect portrays a disturbing image of how today, patients are treated in the modern society and the day to day activities that surround them. The session’s episode draws the need of upholding ethical standards in every designation present to a person. Violation of ethical criteria in the Parker family article is well illustrated. The first instance shows Sara and her daughter Stephanie living with six cats in a two bedroom apartment. It was unsuitable for Stephanie and Sara to have so many cats, which may have affected their health status. Also, the hoarding of Stephanie and Jane back in high school demonstrates their mother denying them freedom like other children. Additionally, the release of Sara back to her apartment despite Jane showing photos of her home conditions shows perpetual ignorance by inpatient treatment team. The replacement of the social worker with a new is beyond reasonable doubt unethical as she was looking out for Stephanie due to the current home state.

The social worker in the Parker episode did not violate any ethical mandates as she had good interests at heart. From the call made to Adult Protective Services, the social worker sought to appropriately deal with the issues affecting the Parker family that took a deep root back to the early family times. The permission seeking nature indicates the social worker did not undertake matters in her hands before enquiring. Some of the strategies that could be deployed in guiding the ethical practice would include the consciousness of the multiple roles (Yegidis, 2012). Also, the utilization of the informed consent rule offers a key way of illustrating ethics as in the case of the social worker who voluntarily showed concern for the Parker family. The primary responsibility of the social worker in the Parker case was to help identify a change in Sara’s medical state to a negative level. Also, ensure there is personal contact with Sara family in the event of any news. Ensure that Sara and Stephanie lived in a suitable environment that did not prolong their sickness status. Proper ethics need to be upheld in the society (Yegidis, 2012).
