Body language plays an integral role in communication because it provides more information about what the speaker talks about. It entails non-verbal communications, which are mainly used to give more details on the topic of discussion. Examples of the commonly used body language include facial expression, body movements, and tone/ sound communication. Speakers should always use appropriate body language related to the topic of discussion or information shared with the audience.

Ways Body Language Impact Leadership

Based on the concept discussed in the video, body language is used in various fields. Body language positively impacts leadership in different ways. It helps convey information or explain more about the topic of discussion. Leaders usually use different body languages to express or explain more about the subject of debate ( Floyd, 2016) . For example, when a person offers a handshake with the palm facing upwards, it means a submissive gesture. Leaders at lower levels greet their seniors when the palm faces upward as a sign of being submissive to them. Therefore, it is prudent to understand all body language's meaning to use them correctly and appropriately. ( Floyd, 2016) An upward handshake is an expression of transparency of subordinates to senior leaders. According to the concepts discussed in Chapters 1 and 2 of the textbook, transparency is promoted when subordinates encourage integrity and honesty in all their undertakings ( Floyd, 2016) . As a result, this is why less superior leaders greet their superiors while the palm is facing upwards.

On the other hand, when a person offers a handshake with the palm facing downwards, it means superiority over the person greeted. However, the person providing a hand while facing down should do so with respect ( Floyd, 2016) . The concept learned from the video about respect while offering a handshake directly correlates with chapters 1 and 2 about caring. According to the reading, regardless of the level of superiority, a leader should respect and care about their subordinates ( Floyd, 2016) . In doing so, it infers that the superior leaders understand the interest of their associates. Besides, another body language, such as addressing a congregation while hold hands at the back, means the speaker is open and does not hide anything. As portrayed in the video and discussed in the two chapters, holding hands at the back shows competence in dealing with business activities. Competence plays a vital role in promoting transparency in the business field, as discussed in chapter 2.

Furthermore, body language can also be used to express empathy. In some instances, speakers use body language to express emotions in addition to words. As discussed in the two chapters, empathy is also defined in the video how leaders can understand and share feelings. Lastly, body language is used in communication to establish credibility of information shared by speakers to audience. In doing so, speakers must have a positive mindset about the information they disseminate to the audience to enhance credibility, as discussed in the two chapters.

In summary, body language plays an integral role in providing more information about the topic of the study. The most commonly used body languages include facial expression, body movements, and tone/ sound communication. Leaders use these body languages to elaborate their content for their audience to grasp the topic of discussion.
