The teaching profession requires the teacher to develop skills that will help him to reach the learners more effectively. One such quality is being social. A social teacher has a greater probability of reaching the learners as compared to an introvert teacher who may not find interest in helping the students to develop. Besides, there should be a balance between the social and physical health for the teacher to perform well. He also needs to understand the students in their levels of understanding and deliver depending on the need of each group.

Describing and Analyzing Self

The test on my learning style, multiple intelligence, and emotional intelligence test generated a 60% performance grade. I perceive this to be above average. However, the result indicates that I have 40% room for improvement. The resulting analysis indicated that I could socialize with others relatively well. The social skills are manifested through my ability to listen to others, interact with them, and understand their emotional challenges and abilities. The test also prescribed the same for me that I can listen to myself and understand my needs.

Combining the result with the Keirsey scale of the guardian personalities, that constitute 45% of the global population, I belong to the providers’ class. This class is characterized by the desire to care for the health and welfare of those under their care and is the most social in the guardian categories. This group makes up a greater percentage of those in social groups such as schools, churches, and clubs and so on.

From my assessment result, I need to harness my social skills so that I can be more outgoing. A provider, I need to learn to care more for others and not forget my needs. This requires an understanding of the proper skills to balance the two components in order to avoid an emotional breakdown.

How I Will Use My Traits to Enrich My Life

Social and Emotional Well Being

The power to transform the mental capabilities lies in the choices we make (leaf, 2013). According to Leaf (2013), the correct channel of thoughts has the potential to transform the brain and generate a new personality. Theoretically, this statement looks awkward since the brain creates thoughts and thoughts are in the brain. However confusing it may seem theoretically, practically it insinuates the concept of self-rejuvenation or self-healing. The lesson one can derive from this statement is that peaceful and good thoughts improve the health of the rain, which enables one to function more effectively as compared to harmful thoughts that would increase stress and other harmful effects causing trauma. Therefore, I intend to use my social abilities to develop my brain and maintain it in a healthy state by engaging in motivational talks, optimistic views and enjoying moments giving hope to others. I believe that this will enable me to develop those good qualities lying dormant in me and understand others more to the point that I could help them develop for the better.

Physical Goals and Developing a Hobby And Finance

Body health is closely knit with the quality of the mind. A healthy mind will be manifested in a healthy body (Leaf, 2013). Leaf approaches the concept of mental health and body health from a spiritual and scientific point. This balance illustrates the perfect symmetry that occurs between the events in mind, which can best be understood from a spiritual point, and the body relating to physical events. To achieve a healthy body, I will engage my skills in outgoing activities: having a social group that meets at agreed periods would be the right step into achieving this goal. The group can arrange for talks and physical activities such as walks, and body exercises to help us develop both emotionally and physically. These activities can also be programmed to generate funds such as involvement in group businesses whereby the members contribute for a joint venture.

Use of My Abilities to Enhance Professional Performance

For me to deliver based on my abilities, I need to have a comprehensive understanding of how my brain works and a clear understanding of the learners. Medina (2014) provides 12 rules illustrating how the brain works. The rules include, among others, survival, attention, memory, vision, music, gender, rest, and exploration. I find these to be more significant, the others are equally important, in my career.

The human brain has undergone the developmental process. According to Medina (2014), this process he identifies as the evolution of the brain. By comparing earlier history with the current history, the human brain has learned to process complex functions. The approach is useful when handling different levels of students. I need to understand that my abilities are not the same as that of the children; therefore, I need to educate them cautiously.

The concept of attention reminds me that the human brain does not pay attention to boring things (medina, 2014). Besides, the human mind requires repetition of lessons for it to grasp the concept. Therefore, I will engage in the process of repeating concepts as well as making the class enjoyable through my social skills for the learners and myself. To enhance the students' ability to grasp, I will incorporate the lessons with a visual aid. Visual aid enhances understanding (Medina, 2014). This will involve acting out some of the lessons or pictorial demonstrations. The students should be encouraged to explore, and this can be achieved through visual aids. Finally, the brain requires rest, which is important to give the children through activities such as music and sleep. The human brains are not the same for the male and female (Medina, 2014). An understanding of this fact is essential for devising approaches to both genders.

Finally, in approaching students at the lower levels and adolescents, it is important for me to understand how their minds work at those levels. The brain processes are unique at each development stage (McCormick & Scherer, 2018). For example, some emerging issues such as LGBT and ethical-racial development are now incorporated into the teaching discipline (McCormick & Scherer, 2018). As a teacher, I will need my social abilities to interact with the students by enhancing a healthy teacher-learner relationship to reach the learners at their levels especially the adolescents.
