My symptoms of stress test indicate that my stress level is moderate. Evidently, I have experienced moments when I am depressed to the extent of lacking sleep. These symptoms come in many forms and tend to impact one's general wellbeing. A score of 19 on the perceived stress scale further shows that I exude moderate stress levels. Even at these levels, the stress still takes its toll on me academically and socially. I have realized I find it hard to concentrate when I am doing my revision. My mind cannot seem to focus on one thing and execute it effectively. Then there is also fatigue that crops in and make me postpone essential activities that would be helpful academically.
I think stress might deter me from actualizing my academic goals and career aspirations. Anxiety and depression are common symptoms that are most evident in students. This comes from a myriad of reasons and situations. Many of us try so hard to fit in with the supposed right company. I realize most students would compromise even their happiness for this. Moreover, stress tends to decrease the quality of sleep. Once someone has trouble sleeping, then it is obvious that they won’t function at their peak performance. It impacts concentration in class, listening, learning and memory. This usually affects grades in the long run. From what I have read, it is proper to seek help for these kinds of psychological problems lest they grow to undesirable levels. This is exactly what I intend to do. I believe with proper help; I will get my academics on track.
Educators must recognize that stress does affect teens and young adults and as such, there is a need to come up with a supportive and proper educational environment.
