Alcohol has been a major issue affecting the students while studying in different levels of education. When a student engages in alcoholic activities, he/she will drop out of school, perform poorly, misuse education resources like funds, and engage in criminal activities. All such immoral activities will lead to diversion of the main goal of studying ( Marchica et al., 2018 ). The premises that support my argument include; college dropouts, criminal activities, misuse of college fees, health problems, poor living standards in future, poor performance, peer influence, conflicts among student themselves, teachers, and parents, discouraging other students anticipating to join college, and poor reputation in the learning institution. These premises arise within and outside the learning institution due to the use of alcohol in colleges globally.
The two premises that I have eliminated from the ten are discouraging other students anticipating to join college and peer influence. I consider the two premises weak, as everyone has his/her personal goals while joining college. It not easy for students drinking while studying in college to discourage those in high school or other lower levels anticipating to join college. When one has the ambition to join college and achieve his/her dreams, the vision will remain valid despite the image portrayed by those in college ( Kelley, 2017 ). Peer influence is another premise that I consider weak, as one has his/her personal principles despite the behavior of the people surrounding him/her in the learning institution. When a student has the principle that he/she does not want to drink alcohol, the principle will remain and he/she will concentrate on studying.

Many complaints have been raised within and outside colleges due to drinking alcohol and engaging in illegal or destructive activities. Within the colleges, the drunk students might engage in conflicts with other students, tutors, and workers within the institutions. It is difficult for a drunk individual to control himself/herself as he/she is under the influence of alcohol ( Marchica et al., 2018 ). Such a person will engage in any activity irrespective of the consequences. Parents and people outside the learning are also complaining of the behavior portrayed by the college students after using alcohol. Parents sacrifice for them to pay for their children college fees but students will end up dropping out due to alcohol. Additionally, the people outside the college are complaining due to criminal activities and destruction of properties perpetuated by the students after using alcohol. Such complaints can be addressed by banning the use of alcohol by students in colleges.
Most of the students in college level are above 18 years, which is the age that one is personally responsible in his/her life. It is difficult for the college administration to deny the students from drinking yet they are legally allowed by law to drink responsibly. In most of the countries, people above 18 years can drink alcohol. Most of the industries producing and supplying alcohol and other drinks specify that people under 18 years are not allowed to drink alcohol while advertising their products ( Kelley, 2017 ). The students might use such argument to defend their drinking behavior in college. In such scenario, college administration should engage in offering counseling services to the students drinking alcohol and offer them an opportunity to decide their next step. College administration should not engage in banning alcohol but offering counseling services and advice to the students who will make personal decisions.
Most of the colleges that alcohol is allowed experience low student turn up as many students and parents are not willing to allow their students study in such institutions. Alcohol paints a negative image in the learning institution as the students will not manage their behaviors while drunks and they engage in any activity while carrying the name of the institution and not their personal identification ( Marchica et al., 2018 ). Colleges should ban the use of alcohol as the measure to keep their reputation positive, improve students’ behavior, and build confidence among the parents and students anticipating to join the college in future.
Personally, the best argument that supports critical thinking is banning the use alcohol in colleges. According to the previous reports, use of alcohol in colleges has been yielding negative results within and outside the learning institutions ( Kelley, 2017 ). Additionally, the deterioration of moral values among the students in colleges is contributed majorly by using alcohol. It is high time that colleges should consider banning the use of alcohol in the institutions.
