Skin cancer is defined as the abnormal growth of skin cells. According to the National Institute of health, skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States affecting one in every five people (CNN, 2014) . Watching the videos was very educative, and informative. The video outlines three common types of cancer; Melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, and squamous cell carcinoma. Melanoma is the most dangerous that affects the melanocytes; skin cells that make the skin pigment.
A major cause of skin cancer is intense exposure of UV lights. Basal cell carcinoma is the most common type that appear on the areas exposed to intense sunlight. The video recommends ways to reduce risks of exposure to skin cancer is by seeking shade when the sun is at the peak (CNN, 2014) . Another recommended way is by wearing protective clothing and the use of sunscreen all year long. It was interesting to learn that there is a need for reapplying the sunscreen every after two hours.

Continued monitoring of the changes in the skin is vital to help timely identification and effective treatment (Stamford Hospital, 2013) . Persistent skin lesions are symptoms that should could increase the likelihood of early detection. Skin cancer could also be treated through various surgical measures.
In conclusion, skin cancer is a common disease that could be prevented through minimizing the exposure to the risk factors. All the skin colors are prone to contracting skin cancer. It was also notable that it is a preventable disease that people expose themselves to due to lack of knowledge regarding the risk factors. Skin cancer public awareness and advocacy is key to enabling people to take preventive measures that help protect them against the disease as well as their loved ones.
