Insomnia is a sleeping disorder identified in the video. Insomnia is a situation where a person has found it difficult to fall or stay asleep. Insomnia can be categorized into primary insomnia where lack of sleep is not linked to any health problems or secondary insomnia associated with asthma and many others. Some of the symptoms of the disorder are sleeping during the day, fatigue, and irritability. Insomnia can be diagnosed and even treated.

Another sleeping disorder is narcolepsy. Narcolepsy refers to a neurological condition that impacts the ability to sleep and wake. Persons with this disorder always have uncontrollable and excessive daytime sleepiness. Type 1 narcolepsy accompanies an abrupt decrease of muscle tone that causes cataplexy. Type 2 is narcolepsy that lacks cataplexy. Sleep apnea is a critical sleep problem where breathing consistently halts and begins.

In a situation where you wheeze uproariously and feel exhausted even after an entire night’s sleep, it might be sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is of three types: obstructive sleep apnea, central sleep apnea, and complex sleep apnea syndrome. Sleep apnea symptoms may vary from one type to another, but the most common are loud snoring, air gasping when asleep, morning headache, and even awakening with a dry mouth.

Sleepwalking/sleep talking is another disorder identified in the video. Sleepwalking is a condition wherein a dozing individual displays behaviors related to being conscious. Sleep talking is the point at which a person vocalizes while asleep ( Shonia et al., 2020) . These scenes take place during non-REM.

There is no actual treatment for these disorders, but some measures that someone experiencing these disorders should observe. If a client is presented with narcolepsy, I will make evaluations bases on the client’s symptoms and a sleep history from where I would advise the individual to change the lifestyle. The individual should avoid nicotine, alcohol, and even caffeine. The client should also practice taking small meals more often than heavy meals. For a client experiencing sleep apnea, the treatment is more similar to that of narcolepsy. In cases where sleep apnea is moderate to severe, specific devices can be used, and even surgery can be applied.
