Introduction
The topic on the smart home is trending in the current research because of the way smart technology is changing the lives of people. technology makes people’s homes to be an enjoyable and convenient place to be. Smart technology is used in various ways such as machine learning, efficient computing, mobile devices, robotics, ambient intelligent and multimedia (Marreiros, et al., 2008). There are healthcare services which have been extended at home especially when dealing with people with disability. The health services are now accessible due to the assistance and remedial using technology (Kadouche, et al., 2008). The smart home technology changes human lifestyle in more convenient ways: comfortable lifestyle, time-saving, health monitor.
Secondly, smart technology has enabled the use of multimedia services at a convenient time where people can read news or view through their smart mobile phones. The broadcast services are transmitted to people who have subscribed in the place of source they want. People do not have to read newspapers to get new as it used to be they can decide to google information watch television on sports online. They can download and watch music wherever they are (Pulkkis, et al., 2008).

Computerized learning through smart technology has made learning efficient and convenient. The computing environment enhances e-learning and web-based learning through various support systems. Some universities use web-based CAI systems in the teaching-learning process (Dong, et al., 2008). The teacher and the learner interact with his or her lecturer in an oriented educational environment. Other universities have e-learning programs where the students learn in a virtual environment. E-learning has enhanced self-learning as well as reducing the number of hours one takes in class because the few hours they meet their lecturers and the rest of the days they do it virtually. Unlike the traditional learning, technology enables learners to learn anywhere any time which is appropriate. They have resource material online where they can use for research as well as online books for self-study even when very far (Dong, et al., 2008)
Intelligent systems enhance fashion whereby there is a virtual fashion assistant who gives advice and suggests the use of cloth and enables clients to find where to buy different types of clothes. An individual need to use a smartphone to take a picture of a dress or shirt he wants and give it to the designer or supply in the virtual network. Sometimes when the client is interested in that cloth, the buyer and the seller do an online transaction and arrange for shipment and delivery. Cheng, et al., (2008) states that
” Furthermore, there are other computer technologies on clothing already developed,
such as cloth simulation and virtual dressing. We found most of them applied
on e-business and fashion design industries to provide a realistic motion for virtual
clothing. Specific knowledge is certainly required. Hence, knowledge-based clothes
searching system which functions as a personal shopping consultant to general users, is a useful application in the modern fashion society.” (Cheng, et al., 2008, p.16)
There are robot cleaners at home which are equipped with sensors, and micro-controller which work on programmed logic. They interact with one another to clean the physical space technology enhances decision making. Initially, people needed to look for people book appointment then set a date to discuss on given matter. However, decision making is made easier through smart technology. For example, the customers do not need to consult people physically to buy what they want, and they go online search for what they need to check the prices, compare information, read reviews and make decisions immediately (Papadogkonas, et al., 2008). Therefore, smart home technology changes human lifestyle in more convenient ways: comfortable lifestyle, time-saving, health monitor.
