Social media has increasingly become an attractive way of marketing talents and skills for many artists today. Social sites such as Facebook, Tweeter and Instagram are regarded as critical spaces for the upcoming artists to help them showcase their new artists’ talents and find “new eyeballs”. For instance, Hans Uirich Obrist, a phenomenal influential curator from London’s Serpentine Gallery posts daily to his social media accounts which he describes as “a movement of some sort.” Others include Harry Porter, Favianna Rodriguez, Jay-Z among others. 

However, the relationship that exists between art and social media can be tricky. Issues concerning censorship often arise. The lists of artist who have had at some pont their images or even accounts suspended are endless. It is thus true to state that social media sometimes can become a difficulty spaces for some artists to showcase their idea or even mages that often do not agree with the terms and conditions of a given site.

Apparently, Social media often provide cultural strategies that often help artists shift their view about the world. With millions of followers, the artists are often given the opportunity to shift their thinking on situations that make humans interesting and complicated at the same time. Moreover, both the movie as well as the music industry is ever evolving and expanding, incorporating current events and techniques to stay in touch with the newest trends. For instance, more and more films are now incorporating more racial diversity, generating greater flexibility and creativity in the films compared to previous years. This is following to numerous movements as well as new policies that promote racial diversity. A great example can be seen in films such as Moonlight. The film’s main character is a young, homosexual black man. The 2016 Ghostbusters remake is also a film in the recent times that boasted a cast full of female characters, promoting gender equality in a previously male dominated industry. Others include Ocean’s Eight.
