Political Ideology Perception Change
The philosophical approach to contemporary political ideas has altered my perception regarding socialism. The reading has made me recognize deficiencies associated with the political ideology. I highly regarded socialism since I shared the belief that I am a master of my destiny as a human being. I believed that I could influence and control my own environment. I also believed that the more I know about the social and material reality, the more I can control them in my own interests. However, the reading has altered my perception of socialism by highlighting the growing impact of uncertainty and the reduced essence of human mastery. The world has been subjected to change, given the significant advancement of human knowledge. Such advancement was meant to increase the level of certainty, but it has become part of the unpredictability (Giddens, 1994) . The increase in unpredictability has led to an increase in manufactured uncertainty. In turn, the world has become less subject to tight human mastery. Resultantly, the reading has made me alter my view regarding the control human beings have over their destinies. In my view, the propositions made by socialists regarding human mastery cannot be relied upon in the world today.
Ideological Thinking Reference
I think ideological thinking is becoming a highly relevant factor by being a source of identity within the US political scene. Ideological thinking has also become a major source of conflict between different individuals. Currently, the US political scene is dominated by two opposite factions, namely Democrats and Republicans. The Democrats are part of the left and, in this case, tend to focus on deficiencies (Immerwahr, 2020). Resultantly, they advocate for civil rights and broader access to healthcare. On the other hand, the Republicans are part of the right and, in this case, highly believe in social hierarchies. Whites identify themselves through the right spectrum, while minorities such as blacks and Hispanics identify themselves with the left spectrum. The ideological thinking as a source of conflict played out when pro-Trump supporters raided the Capitol to oppose the affirmation of a Joe Biden, a left-wing politician, as the next president. White rowdy groups formed the majority of the raiders. According to Purnell (2021), such groups are molded by the fundamentally racist foundation of the US. Evidently, ideological thinking has played a major part in how different individuals have turned out to be in the US political scene.
