Time is changing where nation-wide security has become the responsibility of all individuals unlike before, when the police force had the entrustment with that responsibility (Branch, 2010).

It is self-pride for one to be part of the group that has the power to record strategies that have led to crime prevention success in the community or state and this event makes this happen.

The event gives the citizens an opportunity to voice their problems out across states to law enforcers. Having in mind that citizens know their fellow citizens more than the police do, thus they know those citizens who are involved in criminal activities and this event creates a platform for these to root out the lawbreakers. This is because the communities are given the opportunity to let the criminals that they are not relaxed and are prepared to fight back crime.

Drug abuse has become the norm nation-wide and has led to destruction of young and old lives. Thus one being part of the event, one has the power to change many lives since one will be part of the drug prevention campaigns. Through this, one is given the responsibility to change and better the lives of the future generation, who will have the joy of living in a drug and subsistence-free environment.

There is a huge gap between the citizens and the police force, which, make the two parties work like two separate entities. The National Night Out event sees to it that this gap does not exist. This is made possible in that the community work hand in hand with the law enforcers to end criminal activities nation-wide.
