Testing accommodations are designs to the testing methods meant to prevent a child's disability from interfering with the ability of the child to demonstrate that he/she has some real skill level. Several measures can be undertaken by the school to accommodate the testing of 504 students.

The tests can be designed to have multiple choices rather than follow the short answer design method. The number of test items can be reduced as an alternative. The administration of the tests can also be changed such that there is an extended period for 504 students. They can have the items in the texts read using a text reader. One of the other options is to have someone write for the child as she/he pronounces the answers aloud.

Since testing accommodations are permitted, the school needs to determine whether the accommodations apply to numerous classrooms. They may use to the point of high-stakes accountability, and therefore, children in the school need to have a chance at testing accommodations. The accommodations have both positive and negative effects in supporting the child. It is essential to be aware when the results are helpful and when they are harmful and device measures to mitigate any adverse effects.

The accommodations can enable the teacher to get an accurate picture of a student's capability. They make a child comfortable with the process with the knowledge that a disability cannot prevent success. Accommodations lead to higher scores in entrance scores for college examinations. The negative things that need to be guarded against are the misuse and misapplication of the accommodations, making a child appear to have more skills than is true, reduction in a teacher to student focus and inflating student scores. The accommodations should, therefore, be introduced with a moderate effect.
