Introduction

St. Augustine is infamous for being among the great figures of early Christianity. His writing relatively influenced the development of the Western philosophy and Christianity. Nonetheless, unlike many of the great Christianity figures, St. Augustine came to embrace Christ when he was at the age of 33. Before turning to Christianity, he was well-known for his worldly living in which he was considered the patron of brewers. As such, St. Augustine sets an excellent example for the modern people seeking to embrace Christ about his experiences, views of prayer, doubts, and lateness in conversion.

Discussion

St. Augustine's experiences, doubts, views on prayer and conversion to Christianity form the basis of an excellent example of a sinner converting into becoming a saint. On this note, a modern person can learn the rules of prayer which include the complete counter-intuitiveness, the execution of worship, and comprehensiveness and practicality whole praying. St. Augustine states that a person must account themselves in this world to begin praying effectively (Keller, 2014). On the other hand, such a person must withdraw from earthly happiness and be focusing on an unjust social order that is dominated by money like the Romans. Moreover, this individual should remove from the societal libido dominandi as defined by St. Augustine which is the urge to control and which leads to numerous inhumane and inconsiderate practices for others (The School of Life, 2015). In addition, St. Augustine promotes the aspect of repentance owing to the evaluation of the hidden depths of a person’s soul and its deep secrets with the aim of turning back to Christ (St. Augistine, n.d.). Overall, St. Augustine campaigns for the Christian religions to all who want to embrace Christ.

Conclusion

Therefore, the modern people seeking to become the believers of Christ should not undermine themselves based on their previous sins and mistakes, but they should ask the kingdom of God through repentance.
