Therefore, the primary role of the Holy Spirit as regards the Bible as inspiration. Most significantly, the Holy Spirit inspired the people who wrote the Bible.

Illumination
The second primary function of the Holy Spirit as concerns the Bible is illumination. Illumination explains the level of human understand and contextualization of the scriptures. Christians must acknowledge that the Holy Spirit is at the center of their understanding of the Scriptures. Secondly, unbelievers have some aspects in the Bible that they cannot understand because they lack the power of the Holy Spirit. It is in this regards that the book of 2 Corinthians 3:15-17 says, "Even to this day, whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their hearts, but whenever a person turns to the Lord, the veil is removed."
Sanctification
Sanctification is the ability of the Holy Spirit to influence the believers to ensure that they grow in faith and live a life similar to that of Christ. Christians are asked to obey the word of God and not just read it for the sake of it. In 1 Thessalonians 5:19, individuals are cautioned against stifling the spirit. The role of the Holy Spirit in sanctification includes making individuals aware of their sins and assists them to respond effectively.
