Introduction

The Bible is the supreme source of knowledge. It provides human beings with a platform to know God and develop a strong relationship with him. God occurs in Trinity with God the Holy Spirit playing a significant role in establishing a relationship between humanity and the message from the Bible. The three primary characteristics that the Holy Spirit helps human beings to draw from the Bible include inspiration, illumination, and sanctification.

Inspiration

According to Apostle Paul, the Bible has a vital role in divine inspiration. In 2 Timothy 3:16-17, "All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work." Illumination

Christians must acknowledge that the Holy Spirit is at the center of their understanding of the Scriptures. Secondly, unbelievers have some aspects in the Bible that they cannot understand because they lack the power of the Holy Spirit. It is in this regards that the book of 2 Corinthians 3:15-17 says, "Even to this day, whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their hearts, but whenever a person turns to the Lord, the veil is removed."

Sanctification

Sanctification is the ability of the Holy Spirit to influence the believers to ensure that they grow in faith and live a life similar to that of Christ. Christians are asked to obey the word of God and not just read it for the sake of it. In 1 Thessalonians 5:19, individuals are cautioned against stifling the spirit. The role of the Holy Spirit in sanctification includes making individuals aware of their sins and assists them to respond effectively.

Conclusion

The Holy Spirit assists human beings to understand the Bible and thus attain a sense of inspiration, illumination, and sanctification. As such, Christians must at all times pray for its guidance as they pursue to understand the word of God.
