With substance abuse on the rise in states and worldwide, better treatment strategies are being discovered and used to help individuals recover from addiction in rehab centers. As ahead of a local non-profit substance abuse treatment facility, and given a grant, I would use the funding to hire cognitive-behavioral therapists in the rehab centers. I will also deploy computer-assisted training facilities(CBT) to help more members recover and have a better long term solution. The selection decision is the most effective way to reduce substance abuse because of the long-term effects and it being one of the best strategies.

The method involves using a cognitive-behavioral therapist who helps to improve and help patients discard destructive behavioral activities and thoughts, which lead to self-destruction; hence this helps to eliminate addiction. This method will involve the use of copying methods to ward off relapse to the individuals. Compared to other treatment methods of addiction, the copying method is more effective. It works by reducing substance use like cocaine, marijuana, and alcohol abuse over time. The results are not instant, but the effect gets achieved in the long run. Besides, my strategy involves spending in computerized assisted training because this gives more consistent and accurate results and finding as compared to the old traditional method of using a therapist (Dawn, 2010)

A research design that I would use to produce evidence that computerized aided training is more compelling is as follows. I conducted a research experiment with the following steps: Collect a group of contributors with a formal letter of agreement to use the CBT method of tr5atemnat. They are individuals who have an addiction to substances like cocaine, marijuana, and alcohol dependence within 28 days of admission. For the treatment method, most participants will undergo the standard treatment of using a therapist. Simultaneously, a few select groups get subjected to the computerized aided therapy as a separate venue in the clinic. To ensure privacy and data security, the [participants using the CBT will all have passcodes to log into the system.

Furthermore, it will not be a challenge for the participants to use the CBT method as it is very user friendly, even to individuals who are not computer skilled. From the assessment, out of all participants subjected to the CBT, the success rate is 66%. The treatments last eight weeks, with check-ins twice a week, to establish if there is any usage of the participant's illegal substances. The copying strategy also gets assessed, after which a test gets done for the drug risk response. The final step is to do the data analysis to deduce the relationship between the strategy score and the self-reported copying and after which the results get extrapolated. However, psychoanalytic psychotherapy as a way of treating addiction and substance use still gets considered a weak method. It only effectively works with individuals who have reached a point where they have a clear head and self-control and have found a way to distance themselves from drug abuse mentally. Furthermore, it is still considered a better way because it helps members achieve acceptable levels of happiness through self-awareness and avoiding bad, malicious, damaging habits (Verma, 2018).

For a drug addiction treatment to be entirely successful, the minimum period is 12 months of treatment. Most of the drug addiction treatments available may not be as effective. The situation is because the individuals keep using the drugs and their efforts become futile in achieving the long term results expected due to the long-term biological side effects of the drug abuse on the body. It has been discovered that when a person is on drug addiction for a long time, there might be changes in the brain structure, even after the individuals stop the usage of the illegal substance (NIDA, 2018). Crime rates levels decrease drastically for individuals who are on substance abuse, and their social well-being and interactions with members of the society also improve. According to Zeigarnik (1972), people who abuse drugs have a high chance of facing emotional violation conditions and associated illnesses, including hysteria and paralysis. Other situations that can arise include brain trauma and less mental activity, which has a significant role in leading to disintegrated thinking. There is a high need to develop standard medical procedures to treat this addiction, hence computer-aided therapy. Most people, according to abnormal psychology reports (Miller 1986). This situation has led to many emphases to have different psychological therapeutic methods of treating addiction and associated mental disorders that typically regard abnormal cognitive behavior as undesirable.

Employers can play a significant role in helping drug addicts to recover by having Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) in their organizations. The EAPs are programs that provide counseling to the members. Besides, drug abuse has different long-term side effects for different genders. Women who abuse drugs are most likely to suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and sexual trauma. In treating addiction and substance abuse, exercising can go a long way to help in the treatment. Quitting smoking can be positively affected when an individual incorporates exercises into their daily activities. Exercises release god hormones in the body, eliminating negative feelings and stress, making a person crave nicotine and other substances.

In conclusion, there are many methods deployed in rehabilitation centers to combat drug abuse. The use of cognitive-behavioral therapists and Computer-Aided Programs still stands as one of the best methods because of their proven track record of having a long-term permanent solution. However, the use of the CBT method is quite expensive, but one of the most preferred methods in the new era. Drug addiction has different long term effects in different genders, for instance, females tend to showcase mental illnesses such as PTSD.
