In Hollywood blockbusters like Batman or Superman, they still face off against bad evil people who try to destroy the world or colonize it. This theme of good versus bad is also seen in cartoons today like Power Puff girls where they face off against Mojo Jojo and his evil plans. Superheroes still possess superhuman powers (Superman) or nice technology (Batman) that mortal beings don’t have, which they use to fight evil. The difference is that the superheroes of today have to fit the PC culture of today where offensive language and stereotyping are shunned. For example, female superheroes do not have to get skimpy outfits like Wonder woman of the previous years.
Superheroes have had a positive impact on our culture today. In cartoons, they inspire kids to be better people by making them take a proactive role in fighting what they see as evil, like bullying. The entertainment value that these superheroes bring to millions of households is invaluable. It is entertaining to see how these characters use their superpowers to save people in times of trouble. Take for example Superman who lifts heavy boulders to open roads to free people trapped or see him defeat an evil adversary. We also learn from their setbacks how to get up on our feet and fight again, which translates to how we cannot give up even when times are bad. They also bring comic relief when we see the illogical things that happen in the movies. The maxim that laughter is the best medicine rings true as they make us laugh.

If there is one thing that I would change is cutting back on the violent scenes in the films if not toning down on the violence. This can be done through a thorough classification in the movies and cartoons so that kids do not ape the fights. They should have some WWE-kind of warning to people who want to watch, “Do not try this at home or school.” I would also stop introducing themes in children’s shows that might bring controversy among their parents, themes to do with homosexuality, which still elicits mixed reactions among the general population. I do not advocate for the discrimination of such people, but putting such things on children rated shows may make people assume that their children are being brainwashed. Nobody would want to have their kids sit down and start watching stuff that might be disturbing. These are stuff that perhaps adults might be comfortable with but it is not okay to force such things to kids. We can entertain the kids with family-friendly content but not stuff that might cause consternation.
