Organic farming is an integrated method of farming that strives for sustainable production in agriculture; it involves soil fertility enhancement in addition to biological diversity while reducing the use of synthetic fertilizers, antibiotics, and pesticides. Organic farming only focuses on unprocessed productions such as vegetables, fruits, cereals, and soya. Organic farming is advantageous in different ways. First, organic farming is the source of soil fertility prevention. Agriculture is an example of a practice that brings about soil erosion (“ Nutritional, food safety benefits of organic agriculture documented by major study,” 2019). Soil erosion depletes soil fertility, and this is one of the reasons why it is essential to enhance organic farming. Organic farming reduces soil fertility depletion through crop techniques that contemplate the preservation of natural resources (“ Sustainable Agriculture,” 2019).

Further, organic farming guarantees crop rotations. Crop rotation is a situation where farmers retain soil fertility by growing different crops in varying seasons in the same farm. The technique provides that there is soil fertility retention, and this is quite advantageous as it improves production quantity and quality. Further, it is also the best way of preserving animals’ welfare as the main rationale behind this farming is to get quality food by optimal use of the natural resources and respecting the environment ( Goudarzi, 2019). Lastly, this is the best method that reduces the use and the cost of energy, preserves the food quality, and also reduces pollution in the environment.

Though advantageous, organic farming also has notable demerits. The products' prices are high for consumers because of the advanced ways of production. To some extent, the products have high nutritional content with inferior quality when compared to other products. Further, the farmers also have a huge disadvantage because the production rate is very high (Turnbull, 2019). This approach demands a lot of mechanizations and techniques that call for high production. Lastly, organic farming also registers less productivity, and this serves as a considerable disadvantage.
