Tchaikovsky was a renowned artist during the romantic era when music had a different composition from that in the Classical era. His music is identified with an expression of feelings and ideas as well as the notable aspects of creativity and talent. His music is indulging and full of expression while conversely using a new musical instrument at that period in time. Trepak, on the other hand, is a form of dance found in the ballet with an energetic rhythm. This essay, therefore, aims at describing the aspects of elements of music in the composition.

For the time and pitch elements, the composition involves squat kicks which are traditional Ukrainian dances consequently enhanced by the energetic rhythm. Similarly, since the composer used the celesta, the melody runs from bar five to nineteen with a chromatic line, featuring numerous accidentals which were uncommon at the time. The beat, on the other hand, is a bell-like a beat from the very soft hammering of the instrument's strings. The harmony in the ballet is a convergence of homophony and polyphony which then creates a balance hence pleasing to the ear which is formed using various instruments which then forms the texture of the same.

For example, the timbre used in the music ranges from a violin, cellos, bassoon and the clarinet. The dynamics in the volume change from high to low throghout the ballet through chromatic notes ( Schmidt-Jones, 2012) . This is thus a collection of the melody, rhythm and harmony of the sound. Furthermore, the colour of the tone is warm and seductive while the tempo begins as soft and continuously increases with the beats. Consequently, the form of the composition is ternary which appropriately depicts the nature of the fairy in question.
