Kentucky senate election race between Amy McGrath of Democrats and majority senate leader Mitch McConnell is a highly-watched senate race in 2020. As the nation decides on the party that will control the Senate in November, Kentucky remains a crucial determinant in determining the supremacy of the Republican and Democrats. The media shapes McConnell an influential and the most high-profile politician in the US, and the most reviled and despised politician by Democrats candidates ( Kamisar, 2020) . Amy McGrath, a former Marine fighter pilot, faces McConnell under the Democrat party despite. McGrath has won positive reviews from the media despite been earlier accused of supporting the impeachment of Trump.

Based on various media coverage, Army McGrath had gained more coverage in the last few months than his opponent McConnell due to her intensive use of social media ads in her campaigns. The national TV strategy and targeting base-favored networks of McGrath has helped her raise millions against high-profile rival McConnell. When she declared her intention to challenge McConnell, McGrath gained approximately $11 million in her campaign's first quarter(Yokley, 2020). Mc Grath's success in raising huge amounts was contributed by social media's intensive use, especially Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and TV commercial ads on CNN, MSNBC, and others (Yokley, 2020). In her social platforms, McGrath is very active and has used now-traditional paid advertising strategies to reach Democrats nationwide via email and online platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube (Yokley, 2020).

Differently, McConnell has limited use of social media campaigns. He has spent approximately $17.7 million in TV and radio advertising with PAC supporters (Dumenco,2020). Despite being the highly-profile republican senate in Kentucky, McConnell is quickly getting the negative ID from his opponent McGrath's campaign. Most of his Facebook posts and tweets are full of criticism directed to president Trump and his political opponents. McConnell has severally faced accusations of using his social media platform to wage political war. Looking at his number of followers, McConnell lag behind his opponent with very few active followers and likes. However, the media still depicts that although many voters dislike McConnell, they hate the idea of been represented by the liberal US.

Mitch McConnell has laid down a challenge to his Democratic opponent McGrath on a social distance debate with no notes on state-wide television. The terms of the debate between the two candidates will be “No notes at the table, no props, and no audience” (Schreiner, 2020). The challenge would push for debate for the two candidates to raise their profile. Based on polls reports, McGrath has trended heavily towards McConnell, trying to secure his 7 th and probably the senate's last seat.
