The Sunrise Trek is a painting that shows a contrast between sunrise and trekking. It shows this contrast in that the trek depicts a tedious and strenuous walk that is not at all enjoyable while the sunrise is symbolic of a fresh start; a new beginning of thing and one should probably be excited for another chance for life.

It is a tall rectangular shaped painting dominated by bright yellow and orange shade of a full morning sunrise. It oozes a warm morning feeling as the sun’s rays are well laid on the canvas in sweeping swathes of a sky that lights the whole painting’ giving it a breath of life. Outlined with bright white and fading yellow stokes, the sun’s rays are sharply edged into the heart of the horizon. The horizon rises from the sky with light shades of yellow, gradually fading further away from the sky.

In the immediate foreground runs a dusty foot-path, outlined by a mixture of brown and black patches to depict the shadows of trees beside and people walking along. The road is wide at the bottom left part of the foreground and runs down towards the center narrowing towards the horizon. A panoramic landscape of bare land with few scattered trees razes down from the horizon stretching further and beyond the horizon and the footpath

Shaded in black and brown are various people, seemingly of different walks of life, trek on the footpath towards the horizon. They include school going children with big school bags, an elderly man with a walking stick, a mother carry a child, a woman carrying firewood and a few indistinct silhouettes of people also seemingly having some luggage. Their faces are shadowed and can be seen to be full of despair and in need of solace; a place to unburden their luggage. The luggage is symbolized by the one thing that is evidently slowing each person down along the path. This could be the old age in the case of the old man or school bags according to school children. The Sun Rise Trek is based on color and contrast. The sunrise, with its bright yellow and white colors, should act as good side of an evidently long and tedious walk on a long dusty footpath . The people and the road are depicted with dull colors to contrast with the sunrise. Also it is contrasting in that the ideas portrayed as luggage and deemed to be tiring, are a cycle of life that is inevitable at different stages of life: a school going child has to carry his/ her book, a mother is obligated to carry their children and at an old age one is expected to be a bit slower.
