Coaching and counseling are the skills that I have. I intend to learn other two skills that is self-confidence and time management. Coaching focuses on instant goals (here and now) than the future or distant past and is a process that aims to improve performance (Robles 2012). A coach is essential for helping individuals up their performance through teaching. I believe that people have problems but I understand that they may need help from a coach, to find answers to their problems. The skills will allow me unlock people’s potentials to improve their performances. Counseling is another skill that I have and is closer to therapeutic intervention of a person’s problem. As a counselor I will help individual overcome barriers and issues by focusing on their past to help them move on from them. The answers to individual progress here may be both external and internal.
Time management can facilitate growing of any business enterprise and is essential to people as it helps one to gain self-esteem and self-consciousness (John 2009). Time management stands in improving oneself and if I gain the skill, I will be free forever. Time management enables one to better their productivity and ensures that you focus on right tasks. Time management depends with our mental and exists between individuals ears because one can manage everything they create. If I can learn the skill of managing time then I will eradicate self-limitation and self-sabotages that an individual is likely to have developed as a poor time manger.

Learning time management is not easy but I have established the following steps to enable me become the master of my time. The first step is, recording my thoughts, activities, and conversations, to help me understand how to spend the time being productive than unproductive. The second step is spending more time thinking, in activities, and conversations that are productive to me. The other step, is scheduling time for interruptions from what I am doing. The fourth step is, taking approximately thirty minutes to complete my time plan and avoid starting my day without a plan. The last step to help me learn time management is avoiding destruction from social media unless I need to use it in a productive way. In addition, I have realized that not everything is achievable and I should not spend more time to work on impossibilities.
Self-confidence involves self-efficacy and self-esteem. When people master the skills they need they gain a sense of self-efficacy. The confidence that I want is to make me accept some difficult tasks and help me be persistent whenever I face setbacks. Self-efficacy is the confidence that helps people learn in particular skills and help them succeed. Self-esteem on the other hand, helps cope with whatever is going on in our lives and make people understand that they have a right to be happy. Self-esteem make people feel that they are competent and can be successful when one put it in their head.
Building or learning self-confidence is achievable and I have set some steps for achieving it. The first step is preparing for my journey by getting the right mindset. I will prepare for my journey by assessing my achievements, strengths’, and thinking of where I want to go. I will think of important things, start by managing my mind, and committing myself to success. The next step is setting out. In this step, I will begin by doing the right things and start with smaller and easy wins by setting smaller goals and achieving them. The last step is accelerating towards success, by now setting bigger goals are achievable because at this stage I will have several smaller achievements’. At this point, an individual can start stretching himself or herself and pursue bigger challenges.
With the skills counseling, self-confidence, time management, and coaching will help me apply for respiratory therapist career. The skills will be of great help to in supporting patients in developing insight, making progressive goals and solving problems. The skills will also help me explore the patients’ respiratory problems in-depth. Coaching and counseling will help me effectively deal with patients’ respiratory challenges.
