Sustainable economic developments are the efforts that are designed to ensure continuity in the fulfilment of human needs. More importantly, the growth and developments are structured such that both the natural resources and the environment are conserved to support the future generations. The primary tool that is used to formulate sustainable economic developments is usually made up of a preempted set of rules. Governments develop strategic economic development plans. Using the plans, the redirect resources and implement policies that will support their development agenda. For instance, a government may impose a standard birth rate, to control its population growth rate. A controlled population growth rate enables the government to efficiently plan and manage their development agendas with minimal demographic dynamics complications. A perfect example is the 1997 sanction by the Chinese government on birth rates. Each family was allowed to give birth to only one child.

On the other hand, improved education and socioeconomic activities for women is another tool that can be used to manage population growth rate indirectly. When women are educated, the scope of their responsibility is enhanced. Their responsibility to the society and themselves is not limited to giving birth and taking children. They will have their carriers that are much more demanding of their time and undivided attention to developing, in the end limiting their focus on children. When women are educated, trained, and allowed to take part in social and economic activities, that is they are allowed to work and engage in other development activities within the society; they scope of responsibility expand. In Africa, it is perceived that the responsibility of women is to give birth. If they are shown how relevant education, career, profession, and work can be in their lives, they are definite possibilities that they will shift their attention and sense of responsibility. In the end significantly reducing population growth rate, though gradually. A perfect example is population growth rate in the United States between the sixties and the seventies. At this time, the population of women workers significantly increased there was a corresponding decrease in the population growth rate spread over ten years.
