The Bill H.R. 507 seeks to tackle the issue of human trafficking and it has been recently proposed in the Congress by Congress member Ms. Bass. However, legislating Bill H.R. 507 will require the effort of at least three Congress members. This paper will conduct a research on legislators in Congress and recognize three legislators that would be significant in discussing the Bill H.R. 507 for policy advocacy purposes.
Ms. Bass
Ms. Bass is a Congress member and was re-elected for a fifth term hence representing the 37 th Congress District. She serves on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and she is a senior member of Global Health, International Organizations, and Subcommittee on Africa. In her first term, she effectively brought together advocacy groups, international leaders and legislators in an effort to extend the fabric provision of the third country of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA). Politically, she was elected to the California Assembly as their 67 th Speaker and was the first African American woman to hold the position. Ms. Bass has expertise in several matters including initiating and affecting social change. She is also experienced in clinical matters as she worked as physician assistance for nearly a decade ( Physician Assistance History Society, 2017). In 2013, she shepherded the signing of the Uninterrupted Scholars Act (USA) by President Obama. Ms. Bass is important for the legislation of the Bill H.R 507 dues to her past legislations and experience as a Congress Member. Ms. Bass is interested in tacking the issue of human trafficking since she is a senior leader in the office of Global Human Rights hence directly concerned with the issue.

Congressman Ted Lieu
Ted Lieu is serving his third time in Congress representing California’s 33 rd Congressional District. He formerly worked as a duty officer in the U.S. Air Force and is currently a Colonel in the Reserves in Los Angeles ( Smart Voter, 2011). Ted is an expert in environment leaderships, civil liberties, cyber security, and government ethics and is interested in matters of climate solutions. Ted introduced the Climate Solutions Act and later introduced its aggressive version of the legislation to tackle the issue in deeply. Ted is a potential target in ensuring the Bill H.R. 507 is legislated due to his stand in Congress against racial and ethnic profiling and human discriminations. Ted views the issue of human trafficking as a violation of human rights since he has a firm stand in the Congress regarding violation of human rights at large.
Congressman Lou Correa
Congressman Lou Correa has spent his career protecting the American Dream and making sure anyone can be in a suitable position to reach the middle class like him. His fights for the American Dream can be seen through his investments in healthcare, education, and infrastructure. The policy interests of Correa include improving the lives middle class families in his County ( Rep. Correa Press, 2017). Currently, Congressman Correa introduced the legislation to protect legal rights of U.S. immigrants and the care for veterans. Correa is an important target in the legislation of Bill H.R 507 since he is interested in the protection of the legal rights of immigrants which is closely related to human trafficking. As a congressman, Correa perceives the issues of human trafficking as a violation of legal rights for immigrants since most victims of human trafficking in the U.S. are from other countries.
Conclusion
The bill H.R. 507 focuses on tackling the issue of human trafficking in the U.S. by prosecuting offenders and protecting the victims. The bill was introduced by Ms. Bass and for effective legislation; Congressman Correa and Congressman Ted will have to chip in due to their similar interests.
