Representation of African Americans in a stereotypical manner in motion pictures is still apparent in present-day society. For a long time, African American culture has been portrayed in films in a stereotypical manner. Thus, the film Black Panther has received great acknowledgment because of its cultural significance. The control of mise-en-scene namely the costume design makes it a refreshing, positive representation of African Americans. 

The costume design used in the film acts as a social symbol that depicts the intersection of black culture, science and a variegated expression of black identity. Various scenes of the film show off the true meaning of their culture. One notable example is the waterfall challenge whereby all the tribes in Wakanda are represented (Swamipersad, 2018). Each tribe is differentiated by their costumes and these attires and the celebratory mode makes the aesthetics representation of African nations.

The film Black Panther has received great acknowledgment because of its cultural significance. The impressive traditional pieces of attires worn by main characters like T'Challa's mother wearing an African headgear when she first appears after the death of her husband. These are some of the examples in the film that shows the true African culture. Additionally, most of the scene in the film displays beautiful cities and images of people wearing unique garments found in several countries on the continent (Swamipersad, 2018). Black Panther captures a journey of black; the visual representation of the kingdom of Wakanda is evident in the mise-en-scene used in the costume design. The film production aims at challenging prejudice against blacks to inform viewers what feels like to live in a culture in a positive way.
