Fatal Attractions is an embodiment of actuality. Historians use this term and it connotes brief non-fiction movies created by European as well as American producers in the preliminary 10 years of the industry of motion pictures. These creations carried a similar characteristic in which they recorded a noteworthy person, people or places or even events of that would be of attention to the common public. These were the most regularly created types of videos in the US. However they were overtaken by popular witty and theatrical plot films produced beginning 1902.

I agree that the representation of the costumes in the film add substance to the narrative and indeed contribute to mise-en-scene. I concur with the representation of Dan as “everyday Joe” because of the way his costumes have been characterized. Besides eliciting the feeling of sympathy in the viewer, it also excites emotions of empathy and the need to understand the difficult role he has to play in the quest to guard against the mad women of the film (Library of Congress , 2019). Indeed the representation of Alex’ makeup, her hair, and her costumer creates the impression that she is letting go at the progression of the movie. Her obsession seems to overtake her while her madness consumes her (Chapter 3 Editing , 2019).

As outlined in the PowerPoint presentation, editing is an essential component of film production. The element of “soviet montage” comes out in the editing of the film Fatal Attractions. According to Soviet films makers, Montage entails the technique of experimenting with the development of the different styles of editing which does not dwell on the invisible continuous nature of a story. This is the kind of editing highly promoted by Hollywood films. The technique attempts to suggest meaning from the dynamic placement of multiple carefully selected elements. Finally, sound adds life to the film by filling in on the conversations of the characters and this adds depth, emotion, and substance to the film.
