Sleep can be defined based on two components; the quality and quantity. The quality of sleep can be seen as someone satisfaction from ones sleeping experience. The quantity can be seen as the length of time someone spends while sleeping. Lack of proper sleep hinders the brain from functioning well, especially during learning, creativity and decision making. However, sleep deprivation has become so rampant among the college due to the lifestyles that deny them the ability to enjoy quantity and quality sleep.

Before getting to college, most students depend on their caregivers to make decisions for them, determining their sleeping patterns. After joining college despite the freedom to make their own decisions, students find it challenging to organize their schedules, especially when it comes to class time, arising, and sleeping time and balancing it with leisure time. With various school work timelines that students have little control over, they find themselves staying up early trying to finish projects and classes, denying them a chance to enjoy quality sleep (Campsen & Buboltz, 2017) . Moreover, at this stage, the students feel the urge to try different things and some of the activities demands for them to stay out late. Such events may include parties and adventures that consume a lot of students ’ time alongside schools. Having experienced this adjustment, one can conclude that these are the significant factors that deprive students’ quality sleep.
