The course in Education has prepared me for my career as a teacher by enabling me to get knowledge on how to receive and provide systematic instructions to my students. As a teacher to be, I have learned that I am not only responsible for the students’ academic success but I should as well enable them to reach different levels. This is achieved by ensuring the wellbeing of students both inside and outside the classroom. The knowledge that I have gained in the training will help me impact the students’ lives by teaching them life lessons that are important and will contribute to their success not only in academics but also in the outside world.
As a teacher, it is important for me to have faith in my students by believing in their full potential. My success depends on their success and therefore I must have high expectation for them and push them to their limits of success. I have to learn as much as I can in my field in order for me to be successful in my teaching career. Learning never stops and therefore I need to feed my mind with as much information as possible for me to have the required knowledge about my field. Being consistent and decisive will enhance my success as a teacher.

The education theory of essentialism has its belief in children being enabled to learn the traditional basic subjects to their full understanding. It aims at enriching students with the essentials of academic knowledge by the use of a back-to-basics approach. The theory ensures that the wisdom taught in the traditional academic system is passed on to students from teachers. The approach trains the mind to reason and it as well ensures that a common culture is enhanced.
Perennialism philosophy is teacher-centered and deals with global realities and evaluating ideas. The philosophy has its opinion that education should have its focus on ideas that have been in place for a long period of time. Such ideas are still relevant today just like they were relevant in the past. The philosophy is meant to prepare students for life by developing their thinking skills and morals through enhancing their critical thinking skills and emphasizing on knowledge. As a teacher, the philosophy makes me to be less concerned about the interest of the students as I become more concerned with passing on knowledge from the older generation to the current generation. It enables me to focus more on reading and to apply the knowledge that I have gathered to make valid points during the lesson.
Progressivism philosophy is of the belief that individuality, progress and change are important factors in one’s education. It focuses on the needs, interest, experiences and abilities of students as it believes that people learn best from what they think is most important in their life. The teacher plan lessons which provoke students to be more curious and this enhances active learning. There is much interaction among students and this develops social qualities such as cooperation and tolerance. Social philosophy focuses on human behavior and the interpretation of social institutions and society in terms of ethical values instead of empirical relations. The philosophy emphasizes on getting an understanding on the political, moral and legal framework.
I am contented with progressivism philosophy as I am keen on the needs and experiences of my students. I like to provoke students so that they can use their thinking capacity to the maximum levels. Progressivism gives students the opportunity to learn from what they think is most important in their lives unlike other theories which do not provide this platform.
