The telephone, automobiles, and global positioning systems (GPS) are technological aspects developed by human beings, and it has had a great impact on the society. The telephone was significant for society since it allowed two or more people to communicate directly despite being apart. The automobile's significance to society is that it offered faster and reliable transportation from one point to another. The United States military developed the GPS to guide ballistic weapons (Westbrook, 2019).
The telephone's consequences started taking effect when the internet was introduced. The use of telephones to access the internet has led to academic distractions, cyberbullying, and lack of privacy. The automobile causes pollution, lots of lives have been lost as a result of accidents. The GPS has caused crime and a lack of privacy. Technology has effects on sociocultural development in communities. The telephone benefits to society are that it has made communication faster. At the same time, its negative effect is the constant decay of moral values by the exposure of explicit and inappropriate content to kids who surf the internet using these telephones. The automobile has impacted society positively by saving time on movement, but its negative effect is the pollution of society's environment. The GPS has made traveling to new places more accessible, while its negative effect is that it deprives privacy in societies. Telephones have done more harm than good in the user's privacy issues; the internet and social media violate one’s privacy by collecting personal information of people. The GPS violates users' privacy by accessing and sharing people’s precise locations where criminals may use this information to commit crimes. With the automation of cars, more user's data will be shared, thus violating privacy.

Using telephones has dramatically influenced how people define themselves, their self-identities. Most people's behaviors are now influenced by social media. People's digital identities are not their natural identities but rather how others perceive them on social media. People creating fake profiles will continue as social media creates a competition platform; everyone wants to seem successful and popular (Akram & Kumar, 2017). The telephone has created social equity since communication has been made easier amongst different groups of peope, while automobiles have created inequity in terms of the wealth gap, those who own cars, and those who don't.
