Ethics of caring define the rules and regulations that bind the caregiver and the patient. It is important to understand that a caregiver is any person who is responsible for taking absolute care for a patient. In most cases, the nurses and the medical practitioners have been confused with the caregivers; the caregivers play a different role whereby they are responsible for ensuring that the patient is in appropriate medical condition as per the physician’s instructions. Caregivers can be the family members or volunteers. They, therefore, get paid or not. In the field of caring, there are dilemmas that these caregivers experience, from the PowerPoint presentation on the ‘ethics of caring’, the dilemmas could be discouraging and could end up messing the lives of the caregivers. Caregiving is a task that brings together, medical practitioner, the nurse, the client; in this case could be the family or the relative of the patient, the patient and the helper; the caregiver.

In order to overcome ethical dilemmas, the caregiver should practice these three aspects. First, the caregiver should have the knowledge of the requirements to care for the patient; this will help them any time they are in a dilemma and there is a need to make decisions. The guidelines and principles of caring should be up to date to enable the caregiver have an easy time dealing with the patient. Secondly, the caregiver should practice the ethic of offering support to the patient, it is important to understand the patient in order to give support, in this case, talking to the patient, encouraging them and giving moral support will help reduce the dilemmas in caregiving. Thirdly, the caregiver should always report any observation; this will help in reducing the dilemma that occurs as a result of ignorance and perhaps not being attentive to the movements of the patient. Reporting any observations include report of any questionable situations, looking for any change in the patient’s status as well as the plans of the caregiver (Brown, Kitson & McKnight, 2013).
